In news that may just ruin your Friday afternoon, One Direction have been named as the richest UK boyband of all time. OF ALL TIME.
According to The Sunday Times' annual smug-fest the Rich List, Harry, Niall, Zayn, Liam and Louis earned a whopping £45 million in 2013 alone. Furthermore, the 'Live While We're Young' hitmakers have an individual wealth of $26 million, which means they're worth $118 million as a band.
"There hasn't been another boyband who have made so much money so quickly," said Rich List editor and bringer of bad news, Ian Coxon. "Whether they will carry on at the same rate is anybody's guess."
"The group performed 136 shows in 78 cities in 2013, which generated box office revenues of $114million. They played to a total audience of just under 1.5 million," Coxon said. Great.
According to Global Newsline, band members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson pocket the most dough as they write the majority of the group's songs, including nearly all of the tracks from One Direction's most recent album, Midnight Memories.
