With just over a month until One Direction release their new single, "Live While We're Young," on October 1, the fivesome was spotted on the set of its wet and wild music video over the weekend.
The British heartthrobs were snapped on set, soaking wet and standing in a giant above-ground pool. While the rest of the guys were wearing sopping-wet T-shirts, One Directioner Niall Horan was shirtless. Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne were holding inflatable props. Tomlinson, along with Zayn Malik, sang into a giant microphone. Tomlinson held up a giant banana. Meanwhile, Harry Styles chatted with a female extra on set.
The video is supposed to look like its taking place at a summer music festival, and it features the extras shooting the guys with water guns. The video was reportedly shot in England. No word yet on when it will be released.
"Live" is the lead single off their sophomore album, which hits the streets in November. It was written by songwriters Savan Kotecha, Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk. The team also worked with the guys on their debut and is responsible for the hits "One Thing" and "What Makes You Beautiful." The new song has been described as "an immediate, energy-packed song mixing rock undertones with smooth harmonies, about living for the moment."
One Direction spent the summer recording the album, hitting the studio with the likes of Ed Sheeran, McFly's Tom Fletcher, Dr. Luke, Shellback and Toby Gad.
Before they drop "Live While We're Young," the group will take the stage for its first appearance and performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6. They are up for Best New Artist and Best Pop Video for "What Makes You Beautiful."
Ahead of that, on Thursday, the guys will host the VMA special "One Direction: My First Time," which will feature the guys recalling some of their favorite performances from the show, as well as past performers like Taylor Swift and Green Day remembering their first time hitting the VMA stage.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Head to VMA.MTV.com to vote for your favorites, or text BNA to 22444 to vote for Best New Artist all the way through the show!
