If the "X Factor" contestants want to see just how big a launching pad the show can be, they should look no further than Thursday's guest performers: One Direction. "X Factor" mastermind Simon Cowell put the boy band together on season seven of the U.K. version, and they're repaying the favor by giving their mentor a boost.
Fox announced Monday (November 5) that the band — which consists of former U.K. "Factor" contestants Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson — will take the stage to perform "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things" during the show's first live results show of the season Thursday.
What are the most swoon-worthy tracks from One Direction's new Take Me Home album?
"Having come from the U.K. 'X Factor,' we can't wait to perform on the U.S. stage — it's going to be a great night!" Malik said in a statement MTV News received from Fox.
"We're really excited to be on the American 'X Factor,' " Horan added. "It'll be the first time we've performed in front of 'Uncle Si' since we were on the U.K. 'X Factor.' So, hopefully, we'll make him proud!"
After One Direction's performances, hosts Khloé Kardashian Odom and Mario Lopez will reveal the results of America's votes for the first time this season.
One Direction's "X Factor" appearance is the perfect primer ahead of the November 13 release of their sophomore album, "Take Me Home."
