One Direction vs. The Wanted: It's a battle of the boy bands!

Within the past week, things have been heating up between the guys, with both groups taking jabs at one another for things that were said in the press, and by the looks of it, it's getting pretty ugly. In an interview with Glamour U.K., The Wanted, who recently released their new single, "I Found You," were blatantly asked if there is any truth to this boy-band beef.

"I mean, there's obviously mouth there. We used to try and have a bit of banter with them, and they kind of ignored it for a while. But I think now, with the fanbase growing, and it getting brought up what we said ages ago, I think they've let it rile them a little bit," Jay McGuiness said. "Because they've been mouthing off quite a bit recently! At the end of the day though, it's just words. It doesn't really affect us. It's not like we're friends and all of a sudden it's a shock and it's like, 'You stabbed me in the back!' So, it's just words. To be fair, it's mainly Louis [Tomlinson] I think that seems to be mostly sniping..."

McGuiness is referring to One Direction Tomlinson's recent interview with Now magazine where he revealed how the relationship between the two boy bands, who met on the set of the U.K. version of the "X Factor," "changed" since The Wanted have been "bad mouthing" them in the press.

"If you want to create that rivalry, then let's do it," Tomlinson said. "We're not bothered about the friction or the rivalry. But I'm not going to shy away from it because that isn't the person I am. I don't think it's fair to me or any of the lads." He then took digs at the bad boy reputations of the Wanted, saying, "I was going to say something rude then. Or something sexual. But that's something the Wanted would say."

The Wanted and One Direction will meet up in just a few weeks when they both perform at Z100's annual Jingle Ball concert on December 7, and now, after hearing what Tomlinson had to say, there may just be a boy-band brawl.

"I like how he's quite passive-aggressive with everything. Like, before he says anything he says what we've done. But we're going to see them in New York, we're doing a gig with them in Madison Square Garden, so I think let's go to their dressing room and say, 'Boys, so, what exactly have you heard? Here's the truth, and here's what we've heard...'" McGuiness told Glamour U.K.

Max George added, "I'd like to go up to Louis and go, 'OK,' so, if I was to say, 'Yeah, let's start the rivalry, me and you, right now, what are we going to do? What are YOU gonna do?' "

McGuiness, who tried to make light of George's comments saying, "I think all he really means is let's carry on doing bitchy comments in the papers. That's all he really means."

George added, "I mean, if we're gonna go for it, let's proper go for it, at least. Let's not just say a couple of words to an interviewer. I feel tired by it, because, come on..."
