Pete Doherty appears in court charged with cocaine possession

Pete Doherty has appeared in court today (December 2) in London charged with cocaine possession.

The Libertines and Babyshambles man attended Thames Magistrates' Court to answer the charge, which is in relation to the death of film-maker Robin Whitehead on January 24. He was arrested after police investigated Miss Whitehead's death.

He appeared alongside musician friends Peter 'Wolfman' Wolfe and Alan Wass, who have also been charged with drug offences, reports the Press Association.

Doherty took a photo of himself, Wolfe and Wass on his mobile phone before the judge had entered the court. He also spoke to Miss Whitehead's half-sister, Sian, who approached him after the hearing. Doherty is reported to have told her: "I am really sorry about your sister."

Speaking outside the court, Ms Whitehead said: "All the family are still devastated about the death of Robin. A beautiful woman has died and the family are still very much in mourning."

Wolfe has been accused of two counts of possession of cocaine and one count of supplying cocaine, while Wass has also been charged with cocaine possession.

The case was adjourned for a committal hearing on January 14 at the same court.
