Pete Doherty arrested

Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink and drugs.

Police stopped the Babyshambles singer in east London at about 8am yesterday (December 18) and say that he had been driving erratically.

Suspicious substances found in the vehicle were sent for analysis by officers.

According to BBC News, Doherty was taken to a north London police station.

He was later released on bail and is due to report back in February.

A spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Police said that a car had been spotted driving erratically in Mount Pleasant Lane by officers on patrol.

After the vehicle was followed into Dudlington Road, the male occupant and three passengers were said to have left the car and made off on foot.

She said: "Officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old man, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs."

Doherty was also stopped on November 30 whilst driving in Ealing, west London, and was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.

A police spokeswoman said at the time that officers stopped the vehicle as it was being driven "in an erratic manner" and recovered "substances" from the scene.

The singer was taken to a west London police station and later released on bail. He will have to report back in January.

However, no further action is to be taken by police after Doherty was arrested on suspicion of a drugs offence following a Babyshambles gig in Shrewsbury on October 1.document.write(unescape("
