The new campaign aims to get the track – which is just four minutes and 33 seconds of silence – to the coveted Christmas No.1 slot.
More than 54,000 people have reportedly joined a Facebook group supporting the US rap metal band’s attempt to beat whoever wins the X Factor this year to the top spot.
Last year’s Rage Against The Machine campaign saw the group’s single Killing In The Name Of get to No.1 in the UK charts, beating off competition from X Factor winner Joe McElderry.
UK radio station Xfm's Eddy Temple Morris has joined the campaign and The Prodigy are also reportedly checking their diaries to help re-record John Cage's original ambient track.
The single will be available on 13 December.
