PETE DOHERTY said he doesn't think he is fairly represented by the media.
Speaking to ITV's London Tonight programme, she said he feels that the press have invented an "evil" version of the man he really is.
He said: "I don't really see it as me in a way. It's like this media creation."
"I call him my evil twin, this fella they've [the media] created. He looks a little bit like me, apart from he's filthy and he's always pulling a weird expression, or doing something violent or illegal."
But he admitted that he understands why the public are fascinated by this 'character', and even he is interested in the creation himself.
He said: "I'd like to meet him…actually I dunno if I would like to meet him. Maybe, just briefly. Can you arrange it?!"
Doherty is currently on a UK tour in support of his recently released solo album 'Grace/Wastelands'.
