Pete Doherty detained in Oslo

Babyshambles missed their main stage appearance at Norway's OYA festival this weekend after singer Pete Doherty was detained in Oslo airport for carrying drugs.

Doherty was one of two people held for four hours at Gardermoen on Friday (August 12).

An Oslo police officer, Harold Holmsen said: “I can confirm two British citizens were stopped by the customs on Friday at around 4pm.”

He added: “One of them had 1.7g of coke, the other had 1.5g of heroin. They both received 8,000 krone (£700) fines and were released several hours later. It will not go to court as they accepted their fines but it will be registered as a criminal offence in Norway.”

As a result of the incident, Babyshambles missed their 5pm main stage slot at the Oya festival in front of 8,000 people.

The band eventually played at 10.30pm on a smaller stage with a capacity of around 4,000.

According to reports, during the set Doherty vomited and threw a vodka bottle into the crowd.

Babyshambles had their equipment seized by police after a secret gig in London last week.

The band played at the Duke Of Clarence in north London on August 11 and following their set, the police arrived and confiscated their equipment.
