Just after drummer Andy Burrows quits Razorlight, Peter Doherty adds to Borrell's woes by slagging of his songwriting skills.
In an exclusive interview with Xfm, Pete Doherty has hit out at Razorlight's songs. Doherty was speaking to Steve Harris about the making of his new album, 'Grace/Wastelands', and his relationship with the album's producer, and former Smiths producer, Stephen Street.
"I had to use someone I could trust, really. You have to go by your instincts. Somehow, I had to preserve the nature of these songs which, to me – in my own up-me-arse kind of way – are precious, insular, fragile, beautiful, melancholic songs. And yet, we want them to sell by the bucketload. So we needed someone who has integrity and can recognise a good song from a Razorlight song".
Following a comedy groan, Pete went on to include Chris Martin in the slur…
"… or a good song from a Coldplay song".
