Pete Doherty has launched a brand new website to give fans an insight into his private life.

Along with his friend and literary agent Paul Roundhill, the Babyshambles singer has unveiled balachadha.com.

Roundhill has shot four hours of footage of Doherty, performing, relaxing and talking with close friends, which will be available to subscribers to the site.

The idea behind the site is to provide subscribers with a living biography of the troubled star with the option of downloading a series of home movie-style videos, with the promise of further clips, poetry and extracts from Doherty's journals.

Roundhill told The Guardian: “When I first met Peter I felt he had multimedia potential and he would break the mould, dismantling the barriers between the band and the audience. The potential for him to work in different media is immense but it also is necessary for him to keep control. This site is making a statement. It's a way for Peter to be in control of all the different aspects of his work."

The name of the site - Bala Chadha - means ‘top blonde' or ‘good white' in Bengali and is drug dealer slang for crack cocaine.
