Pete Doherty has signed a five-figure deal to write an autobiography about his band Babyshambles.
The troubled singer - who is currently serving time in London's Wormwood Scrubs prison for breaking the terms of his suspended sentence imposed to help him overcome his drug problems - will write about his time in the group and his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.
He is believed to have signed a deal with publishers Cassell Illustrated.
Pete and Kate split in July 2007. She is now reportedly engaged to The Kills musician Jamie Hince.
The as-yet-untitled book won't be Pete's first published tome. His journal-style book, the 'Collected Writings of Pete Doherty', was released last summer, but sold a disappointing 10,855 copies. Pete was sent to prison earlier this month after he breached his probation conditions by missing two drug tests, turning up late on other occasions and verbally abusing staff.
Cassell Illustrated are most famous for publishing glossy 'coffee table' style books including '1001 Classical Recordings You Must Hear Before You Die' and '501 Movie Stars'.
