Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith are reuniting on the big screen for a new film called Girl Trip.
The actresses first worked together in cult bank robber drama Set It Off, and 20 years later, they've signed up to star in a road trip comedy featuring four friends travelling to New Orleans, Louisiana for the annual Essence Music Festival.
Regina Hall was previously announced as the star of the film, and a fourth actress has yet to be revealed.
Deadline reports Girl Trip will be directed for Universal Studios by Barbershop: The Next Cut filmmaker Malcolm Lee from a script written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver.
Although Queen and Jada have not shared the screen in decades, they have worked on multiple projects behind the scenes. The stars teamed up to produce 2008 drama The Secret Life of Bees and Dear Mama. The women also co-produced Queen's talk programme, The Queen Latifah Show, which aired in America for two seasons until it was cancelled last year (15) due to low ratings.
The business partners and friends have previously spoken about how much they enjoy working with each other, with Jada noting she was immediately taken by Queen when they first met.
"She (Queen) was barefoot, wrapped in this African garb with the headpiece," Jada recalled to More magazine. "I was so impressed with this black woman my age who was representing herself as an African queen. It was a bold statement in a very male-dominated industry."
Queen noted during the same interview she finds a lot of joy in developing professional projects with Jada.
"I love the idea of putting all of our brainpower together," she smiled.
