The Kinks former frontman Ray Davies joined students at Coniston Institute in Cumbria in the North of England on Friday.
Ray was back at school to watch a performance of 'Child's Play', written by Davies and featuring the songs of The kinks.
110 people, including the legendary rock star, attended the school concert and reported that he enjoyed the performance.
After the performance he met and congratulated the students.
Ray wrote the play about the last 60 years of cultural and political life in the UK to be performed by students. It features The Kinks songs 'All Day and All Of The Night', 'Waterloo Sunset', 'Dead End Street' and 'Do It Again'.
The students play three couples who discuss events like the death of Princess Diana through to the Global Financial Crisis.
The play was staged for the very first time on September 4 at the Southbank Centre in London.
Coniston Institute plans to stream their version of the show in coming days.
