It's been a number of months since the subject of a Kinks reunion has come up, but the new year brings new volleys in the ongoing speculation.
This time, it's Ray Davies saying that he wants to get the group back together. Ray has been feuding with his brother Dave for years and Dave had stated in the past that there was no way he would participate in a reunion of the group. Ray now says, so be it.
When Q Magazine asked Ray about a statement Dave made about a reunion being like "a bad remake of Night of the Living Dead", Ray responded "I can understand what he's trying to say. I think it's a reference to comebacks in general. The fortunate thing for me is that I was never a sexy frontman. Dave was always the pretty kid. So maybe he feels that way about himself but we'll do it without him if we have to. The music is the issue."
That would leave the group with Ray and drummer Mick Avory from the original group. They would need to replace Dave and bassist Pete Quaife, who passed away last year.
