Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, according to reports.
The man behind Borat and Bruno is to play a gambler who purchases Django's (Jamie Foxx) enslaved wife, played by Kerry Washington.
The Hollywood Reporter suggests it will be a "minor but shadowy role."
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Miami Vice's Don Johnson are the most recent additions to the remake of the 1960's spaghetti western Django, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Kurt Russell and Samuel L Jackson also slated to appear.
Christoph Waltz, who also starred for Tarantino in Ingloriou Basterds, was injured on the set in October while rehearsing a horse stunt.
Django Unchained is scheduled for release on December 26, 2012.
