Sailor Jerry has opened the doors to Hotel Street – its very first UK venue. Open for business to all, Hotel Street is located at 121-125 Charing Cross Road and houses a gallery, coffee shop and clothing store by day and a gig and dive bar by night – named after Honolulu's infamous Hotel Street District where Collins' made his name, Hotel Street is an all-round good place for bad people.
The original collection of Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins old-school American tattoo flash art, recently restored in the US, has been flown over to Europe for the first time. Curated by the founder of the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum and well respected tattooist, Henk Schiffmacher, the exhibit at Hotel Street will rotate 75 pieces of original drawings, rubbings and flash artwork. Browse the Sailor Jerry clothing in store exclusively at Hotel Street then kick back and enjoy a Dunne Frankowski coffee or a Sailor Jerry.
Hotel Street has already seen a host of sell out live gigs from the lo-fi tones of Dirty Beaches to the eccentric mix of King Khan and The Shrines. Still to come, Hotel Street has the likes of the Glasgow indie trio PAWS, Brighton rock band Tall Ships, Dee Dee from the Dum Dum Girls and more (full listings below). Friday and Saturday nights will see a host of garage, rockabilly, punk and blues DJs in residence
Hotel Streets fortnightly film club is one of London's most intimate cinemas in town with only 30 seats - single tickets are just £3 or £5 for a double bill with popcorn included - this is a must for those wanting a chilled Sunday night (full listings below). Coming up on 13th May is the documentary on the history of the Sex Pistols, The Filth and the Fury, followed by the biographical story of the Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious, Sid and Nancy.
