ARTISTdirect.com has teamed up with nu wave-influenced rock band She Wants Revenge to premiere this EPK for their new album, Valleyheart, which is out today. There are clips of the band in the studio, rocking out and working on Valleyheart, which plays out like a musical love letter to their native city.
The band's key members Justin and Adam talk about how they wrote lots of songs, tried different things and how their only requirement for a song making the album's final cut was that it had to be a good, well-constructed song. The band also explores new lyrical territory and talks about relationships in a different way.
SWR talk about the modern, neo nu wave single "Must Be the One," which is a soaring, beautiful rock song that has a sadness and a longing to it, in a cinematic way, which is something we always point out and discuss with bands that we interview here. While the band says the song is not retro, the notes and music evoke cinematic feelings. We are apt to agree.
The band also opens up about "Take the World," which is a little more upbeat and informed by the early 1990s, which were important years for the members of SWR as people and as artists.
The band also says that the album's tone is dreamy and full of reverb, air, ambience and technical elements, whereas they were more stiff and cold (purposefully so) on prior albums.
