Spinal Tap wins greatest rock film

Spoof rockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap" has been voted the greatest rock'n'roll movie of all-time.

The cult film finished ahead of the John Travolta-starring "Saturday Night Fever" and Metallica's "Some Kind Of Monster" in a new survey.

Released in 1984, "This Is Spinal Tap", starred Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest as David St. Hubbins, Derek Smalls and Nigel Tufnell, the 'stars' of a dismal British heavy rock group.

The poll, conducted by US magazine Blender, includes Prince's "Purple Rain" in the Top Ten, alongside the Madchester movie "24 Hour Party People" and this year's Dandy Warhols film "Dig!".

Elsewhere in the Top 100, Eminem's "8 Mile" was at 14, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at 30, with Tom Hanks's "That Thing You Do" at 100.
