The 22-year-old singer will be paid £15,000 to switch the festive lights on in Renfrewshire, Scotland, but some aren't happy at the fee, which comes amid cuts in Renfrewshire Council.
According to the Daily Record newspaper, Mike Holmes, opposition Labour councillor, said: 'The SNP-led administration has clearly not learned its lesson from last year.
'This year we've seen hundreds made redundant and increased charges for the elderly and vulnerable.'
However a spokesman for the council said: 'We are balancing making savings with putting on a top event and are bringing in sponsorship.'
