Suge Knight charged with murder

Suge Knight has officially been charged over the hit-and-run death of Terry Carter.

The 49-year-old is facing a felony murder charge, as well as additional felony charges of attempted premeditated murder, hit-and-run resulting in death and hit-and-run resulting in injury.

TMZ reports the LA County District Attorney filed the charges on Monday afternoon following the incident that took place in Compton, California, last Thursday.

Both Terry Carter and Cle 'Bone' Sloan were reportedly struck by Knight's red Ford pickup during a heated altercation.

According to police reports, Knight "aimed his car" at nemesis Bone, 55, and accidentally ran over his friend Carter in the process.

Sloan suffered severe injuries, while 51-year-old Carter's injuries were fatal.

According to TMZ, a video obtained by police that is said to contain "a portion" of what took place in the parking lot is key evidence.

Authorities tell the website the footage "significantly strengthens the case against Suge" though it is not yet known how much of the incident it captured and how it was obtained, as the security camera in the parking lot was not operating at the time.

The filing comes just hours after Knight's bail was revoked, with the judge ruling that he was a flight risk and would be held in jail until his trial begins.

"He is no longer being held on $2 million bail because authorities believe he's both a flight risk and more than capable of intimidating witnesses," TMZ reported.

Knight fled the scene after allegedly ploughing down the two men and was arrested on Friday when law enforcement officials finally caught up with him.

He insists he only fled as he was confused following the incident and didn't realise anyone had been injured.

The co-founder of Death Row Records, who is no stranger to being on the wrong side of the law, faces life in jail if found guilty.
