Taylor Swift is reportedly "obsessed" with topping Katy Perry on the charts.
The 25-year-old pop songstress has been engaged in a rumoured feud with the 30-year-old Hot n Cold singer for quite some time now.
Taylor reportedly wrote her song Bad Blood, which appears on the star's latest hit album 1989, about Katy, but the upset doesn't end there.
According to PageSix Taylor has become "obsessed" with ensuring all the singles released from her LP 1989 perform better than Katy's tracks.
"She wants seven No. 1s," an alleged industry source told the outlet. "Katy tied Michael [Jackson]'s record for having five No. 1s from a single album, and Taylor wants to beat Katy. She wants to be the greatest."
It's claimed Taylor went the extra mile with radio DJs, promoters and other members of the media by hosting an intimate listening session for them ahead of 1989's release date in October 2014.
"She knows all the radio execs by name and how to work a room. She's a complete pro," the insider explained.
Taylor's hard work has supposedly paid off as so far three of her five releases from the offering, including Bad Blood, Shake It Off and Blank Space, have reached the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
However, her motivation to be the best isn't generated from pure spite against Katy, according to different sources.
"Of course there's motivation to beat her peers, but it's friendly competition. She's completely focused on delivering great music and a great show," this insider noted, with another adding, "She's so happy with the success of this album. Talk of No. 1 singles is for the label to deal with. She's not even a part of those conversations. She's concerned with her tour and putting on a show."
