Headliner: Termanology
Representing: Lawrence, Massachusetts
Mixtape: Hood Politics VII
Real Spit: Lawrence, Massachusetts, isn't renowned for its hip-hop output, but by sheer will and determination, Termanology proved that it was possible to spit big-time raps out of the small New England city.
In 2003, Term dropped Hood Politics, a 21-track mixtape, which would go on to define his rap career, and on Friday, the underground lyricist will make a return to his roots by dropping Hood Politics VII online.
"The reason why I continued the series of Hood Politics was because all my real fans, my original fans from the beginning before I started popping, that's why they love me. Just for spitting that raw," Term told Mixtape Daily.
Hood Poltics VI was released back in 2009, but since then, Term has partnered with producer Statik Selektah to form the group 1982, and together, they released two LPs (1982 and 2012). Termanology also linked up with M.O.P.'s Lil Fame last year to release their joint LP Fizzyology, but now, for the time being, he is back to focusing on the brand that has made him a celebrated spitter.
"For the last couple of years, I've been doing more professional work with my man Statik Selektah, doin' albums and of course the album with Lil Fame from M.O.P., but right now, Fame's on tour, Statik's on tour, so I got some time to just get in the lab and go crazy," he said.
Joints to Check For
» "The Love of Money" - "It's produced by my man Harry Fraud, and it features Masspike Miles on the hook and my man Grafh. The reason why I'm hyped about this is because we've both been fans of each other, but never got to work with each other."
» "Up Every Night" (remix) - "It features Cory Gunz and Kid Ink and my man Statik Selektah on the beat. We did the original, it was a house-party joint, it was so hyped, the fans loved it, the crowd loved it, so we had to do the remix."
