The Aliens release Luna

Scottish psych-pop mavericks The Aliens release their new album Luna next Monday (29th September) on their own Pet Rock Records label. Already receiving a hearty round of applause from the critics, Luna picks up where their 2007 debut Astronomy For Dogs left off, and sees the band continuing to explore the outer limits of sunshine pop, psychedelic rock and acid dipped electronics.

As well as the traditional CD, vinyl and standard digital download formats the band are working with Linn Records to release the album as a 24 bit master via www.linnrecords.co.uk. Aimed at those wanting to experience a level of sound quality not available from MP3s or CDs, The Aliens would like to encourage people to get some quality control back into their lives. In the words of The Aliens' John Maclean: "It's amazing how technology has 'advanced' from amazing quality to cheap compressed MP3s in such a short space of time"

John Cornfield who mixed & mastered the album jumped at the chance to re-master the album to open up the dynamic range that 24 bit allows: "The current trend to make CDs extra loud is disturbing to most professional audio engineers and I'm sure to a lot of the record buying public.

Compared to the 16 bit master for CD production the 24 bit download will be a little lower in level but if you simply turn up the volume control you will enjoy a much less fatiguing listening experience with a greatly improved dynamic range."

Luna will be available as 24 bit wav file download at www.linnrecords.com from 29 September and will cost £15
