Fopp is pleased to announce that The Bishops will be doing a mini tour of UK Fopp's in the coming weeks! They will be dropping into Fopp stores in TCR, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Nottingham and Bristol to perform!
THE BISHOPS are a rock and roll band emanating from London. They are fronted by twins Mike Bishop (vocals, guitar) and Pete Bishop (vocals, bass) and completed by Scotsman Chris McConville (drums). From the dark damp cellars of their youth hostel abode, the band worked tirelessly towards creating their sound, studiously developing their gift for classic song craft. The result of these sessions was a collection of songs that are refreshingly striking and different.
And people around the world are taking notice. 2006 saw The Bishops play over 200 shows across the globe, including major festivals across Europe. There were two accompanying singles, which received a rapturous reception from the media, radio and record buying public alike. The band recorded at Toe Rag studios in London working alongside White Stripes producer Liam Watson with the fruits of their labour being a truly remarkable creation; the band's self titled debut album set for release on 1234 records in April 2007. It is a record which brims with energy, variety, feeling and drive; an unequivocally razor sharp distillation of their influences.
Armed with addictive melodies, compulsive rhythms and particularly alluring suits, The Bishops are rightfully carving their own unique place in the modern indie spectrum. If 2007 continues as the previous, the band's ascension towards indie prominence will be swift and replete.
