The Dodos release new single 'Fools' on the 15th of September and New Tour including a date at London's ULU.
You would be mistaken when listening to "Fools" to think that The Dodos consist of many more members than they actually do, considering what a powerful single it is. The San Franciscan duo have managed to create a beautifully orchestrated piece of music, ranging from soft chanting and wistful lyrics, to escalating primal screams and frantic strumming. 'Fools' really highlights how with just two instruments, it is possible to produce such a rhythmic, dramatic and empowering song.
This Autumn sees The Dodos return to the UK, in support of their debut album 'Visiter' and no doubt they will be captivating audiences all across the country, with their commanding stage presence and commanding live show, particularly as Meric Long and Logan Kroeber are joined by a second drummer Joe Haener to amplify and reinforce the focus of the West African influenced ewe drumming in their music.
"Fools" is sure to be a huge success, alongside first single 'Red and Purple' and shows how The Dodos have evolved from the self-released "Beware of the Maniacs" to capture their intense live sound on record. It really proves that their psychedelic folk sound is far from extinct and is likely to push them into the mainstream eye.
The Dodos' 'Visiter' is a pioneering debut with all their signature elements of ethereal vocals, tribal drumming and urgent guitars, undoubtedly influenced by Meric's studies in West African drumming and experimentation with percussion including the inventive 'Tambourine Foot' which involves having a tambourine strapped to your foot…
The album 'Visiter' was released on July 14th by Wichita Recordings.
