After the overwhelming critical acclaim heaped upon their debut album Dreams (UK release December 2007), The Whitest Boy Alive return with one of the LP's pivotal tracks, Golden Cage. A song that is the perfect soundtrack to winter with its dreamlike tones.
Like the rest of the album, Golden Cage was recorded entirely live without any multi-tracking and is based on the kind of slinking, low-strung groove that typifies the band and their sound.
The multi-award winning accompanying video was created by the incredible artist Geoff McFetridge who also creates the opening sequences for Sophia Coppola's films.
The quartet originally started in 2003 as an electronic dance music project when lead singer Erlend Oye hooked up with Marcin Oz, resident DJ at the city's WMF club. The bands studio was previously Erich Honecker's secret hideout in Café Moskau and it was there they discovered and joined up with remaining two members Sebastian Maschat and Daniel Nentwig.
Through just word of mouth the perimeter of Hoxton Square was snaked
with a huge line of people hours before their performance time at
Hoxton Bar and Kitchen.
And the word keeps spreading. Their 1,400 capacity London's Electric Ballroom sold out in no time and tickets are on sale for over £40 a pop online.
