Throbbing Gristle have parted company with frontman Genesis P-Orridge, after the singer refused to go on tour with the band.
A post on Throbbing-gristle.com informed fans of the split, explaining that the frontman had said he wasn't willing to go on stage with them again.
The message read: "In the evening [of] October 27 Throbbing Gristle members and their associated managements received two emails from Genesis P-Orridge stating he was no longer willing to perform in Throbbing Gristle and [had] returned to his home in New York."
In the statement it was explained that the band's other members, Cosey Fanni Tutti (guitars, vocals), Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (tapes, horns, vibraphone), and Chris Carter (synth) have vowed to honour forthcoming live dates under the name X-TG.
The band, minus P-Orridge, will play the Casa Musica in Porto on November 5.
The statement continued: "We hope fans will appreciate and enjoy this new project and the trio is looking forward to performing exciting new and radical electronic musics together."
Following P-Orridge's departure, a gig in Prague was cancelled. See Throbbing-gristle.com for more information.
Throbbing Gristle formed in 1975, splitting seven years later. They reunited in 2004 and released new studio album 'Part Two: The Endless Not' in 2007.
