The 23-year-old British actor plays evil school bully Draco Malfoy in the saga, but he feared that his job was on the line after Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire when he heard a rumour that studio bosses were planning to cast new actors for some of the roles.
In an interview for his website FeltBeats.com, he said, 'We all feared that after the fourth film they were going to get rid of us and start again with new kids. So yeah, we're very proud to have made it all the way through, so to speak.'
He added that although he originally auditioned for the roles of Harry and his sidekick Ron Weasley, which eventually went to Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint respectively, he was glad that the casting went the way it did.
'You know, no one could have done the jobs as good as Daniel, or especially Rupert, you know, comedic genius, but yeah (I did audition). No doubt things would have been very different. I'm not sure I would have rocked the ginger hair as well as I did the blond.'
