Veteran singer Tony Christie triumphed at the V Festival in Staffordshire on Saturday although there was no sign of his pal Peter Kay.
The crooner, sandwiched on the bill between Idlewild and Joss Stone, has enjoyed a new lease of life after his early Seventies tune (Is This The Way To) Amarillo' enjoyed a lengthy spell at the top of the UK singles chart after being re-released for Comic Relief earlier this year. But Kay, who starred in the video, was not around for the rapturously-received rendition which closed Christie's set on the V Stage.
Other highlights included set opener 'Avenues And Alleyways', 'Walk Like A Panther' and a lengthy Beatles medley which included 'Hey Jude', 'Lady Madonna' and 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.document.write(unescape("
