U2 and Coldplay unite for Hurricane Katrina benefits
A host of artists play at two huge charity events this weekend…

U2, Madonna, Coldplay, Beck and Red Hot Chili Peppers all united to raise money for the victims of Hurricain Katrina this weekend.

Two benefit concerts were held in the US, with the first - 'Shelter From The Storm â€" A Concert For The Gulf Coast' - kicking off on Friday night (September 9).

Artists such as U2, Madonna, Dixie Chicks and Neil Young gathered in different cities across the States for the concert which broadcast simultaneously on all six broadcast networks as well as other programming services.

Stars from the acting world such as Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Jack Nicholson, Chris Rock and Ray Romano also took part in the event.

Saturday saw 'ReAct Now: Music And Relief' take place (September 10) with Coldplay, Beck, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, Kanye West and The Game all perform in a four-hour event which was broadcast across the MTV channels.

Mick Jagger said: “Some great music has come out of New Orleans. All we can do is give a little back.”
