The artist formerly known as Vanilla Ice is working to get his exotic animals back. Rob Van Winkle, as he prefers now, went to animal control offices in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Friday to claim Pancho the goat and Bucky Buckaroo the wallaroo -- a cross between a wallaby and a kangaroo.
Van Winkle was fined $220 because his permit for the pets had expired. The two escaped when Pancho apparently nudged open an unlocked door. They were captured after Bucky scratched a woman's car and they have been staying temporarily with an exotic animal breeder. Van Winkle says he's shocked at all the attention. He held up newspaper clippings about the escape and said, "They get more attention here than they do at home." He hopes to get the animals back after he pays another fine to the state wildlife commission.
