The White Stripes paid homage to Tennessee with a rip roaring performance to a packed house that sold out in 5 minutes. It was the duo's first live performance in two years. They treated the Nashville crowd to covers of its famous offspring, opening the set with Hank Williams' Tennessee Border. They later belted out the Dolly Parton classic Jolene, and later on Meg sang to Loretta Lynn's Rated X.
Jack White has recently moved to Tennessee and was clearly reveling in performing to his new backyard. The stage, stagehands and band alike were decked out in trademark red, white and black, with the charismatic two piece belting out tracks from the new Icky Thump album (Cause and Effect, and I'm A Martyr For My Love For You), and closing with Seven Nation Army.
