The Whitest Boy Alive's debut UK show in October was stunning. No one from Modular or the band had a clue they'd get such a turnout or response, especially on a rainy Tuesday night for a band who hadn't at the time locally released a note of music.
Through just word of mouth the perimeter of Hoxton Square was snaked with a huge line of people hours before their performance time at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen.
However, those who did manage to get in saw a band who fully deserve their acclaim. Performing songs from their debut album alongside great covers - including a great interpretation of Robyn's 'Show Me Love' – they delighted a loud and brilliant audience.
The Whitest Boy Alive are now returning for a much-anticipated second London show in February and sees them instantly leap to the 1,200 capacity London's Electric Ballroom. Fans are still advised to buy tickets early since it could be this rather secretive bands' only show for a while.
TWBA are a four-piece who established their home grown identity by recording their debut album 'Dreams', completely live in one take. Fronted by Erlend Øye (of Kings of Convenience fame) they're creating music without the use of layering or special effects that are so common in today's production. The result is a beautiful, honest and affecting album and is set for release on Modular on November 26th.
