The X Factor auditions are drawing in ever closer and I waited with baited breath, my pen poised, ready to make notes on the next collection of fantastic singers.....would my 'Midas act' come from the 6th audition show??? Mmmmm.......
First up in Cardiff, was Natasha from Swansea. Let's just be polite and say, no she is not on my shortlist of potential winners...Next.
Gary Barlow's quote of the week came next, when he said "next time you book singing lessons, make sure there is a refund policy"
The first segment of the show was awful, sorry to be blunt, but it was. Dull, 20 minutes of karaoke style singing you wouldn't put your pint down to enjoy.
Thankfully, a brief but bright ray of sun shone through. Teacher John Adams gave us a brilliant vocal performance.
He was ok, but not a serious contender. He stood out, but lets face it, Saturday's show just lacked the talent.
Mother of four, Michelle was next. Her story..... she had given up her singing dreams to concentrate on her family. But it was now her time. Although admirable, can't see it myself. Another OK singer, but not really good enough.
Tulisa got very teary eyed once Michelle started singing. She said Michelle remind her of her mum, as she had a beautiful voice but never took it beyond the kitchen. Without her connection to Tulisa I really don't think she would have got through. Sorry Michelle.
Next up were Two Shoes, a girl band twosome from Essex. Before they opened their mouths to sing, you could see the audience start to snigger as they chatted to the judges. Just think stereotypical Essex. They started to sing and I think this shut a lot of people up. Never judge a book by it's cover. Good luck girls. Enjoy the ride.
The girls montage followed, all just ok. The only memorable voice coming from Melanie McCabe. She didn't however, get much airtime so difficult to judge. Would still expect to see her at the judges houses.
Last act of a very poor show, was John Wilding. John got to the judges' houses last year and is hoping to go one better this year. John can also actually sing so think he is in with a fair chance.
The social networks went crazy for him but I will stick my neck on the block and say he is not the winner.
I know my review of Saturday seems a bit despondent but this was not a good show, I would even say the worst of the series.
Carol Lee from London summed it all up saying, "Apart from the two John's, tonights show was terrible"
Lets hope the final show finishes the auditions with a bang.
