An X Factor contestant is facing deportation from the United Kingdon, it has emerged.
Gamu Nhengu, 22, was eliminated from the talent show last weekend, despite being among the favourites to proceed to the live finals.
The wannabe singer, originally from Zimbabwe, had been living in the UK while her mother studied at university.
But officials at the UK Border Agency said Nhengu's mother Nokuthula Ngazana had been refused permission to stay after her visa expired in August.
The family must now return to Zimbabwe voluntarily or face deportation from the UK, reports BBC News.
The Home Office said Ms Ngazana cannot appeal the decision.
Nhengu was eliminated from this year's X Factor by judge Cheryl Cole. Her departure has sparked a public campaign to reinstate her.
