Ofcom has confirmed it will investigate the matter as the raunchy performances were shown before the set watershed during the first part of the final of the show.
Over two thousand complaints were sent to Ofcom and another 1,500 were sent to ITV after they were seen in skimpy outfits dancing provocatively.
ITV has claimed it 'listens carefully' to its viewers and it has taken the complaints into consideration while planning its future shows.
A spokesman for Ofcom said: 'We are investigating the show to see whether it was too strong for the time it was shown.'
