Simon Cowell has vowed to tone down this year's X Factor, , following complaints made after Christina Aguilera and Rihanna's raunchy routines last year.
The watchdog launched an investigation into the programme after receiving 2,868 complaints that both star's performances were too raunchy.
It said Aguilera's performance escaped punishment because she was a singing a track from her film, Burlesque.
Rihanna's performance of 'What's My Name' was deemed “suitably limited”, even though it “featured some gentle thrusting”.
When asked if he would be taking the complaints into consideration on this year's live shows, Cowell told the Daily Mail: 'I think based on the reaction we'd have to tone it down a bit.'
A statement released by Offcom said: 'We have been holding talks over the summer ramming home the point that we don't want to see things like this again. We want to make sure that during family primetime shows, people are very much in safe territory and sticking to the rules.'
