Y&T bassist Phil Kennemore has died.
The musician, who had been battling lung cancer, died this morning (January 7) aged 57.
He was a founding member of Y&T, who were formerly known as Yesterday And Today, and played with thehard rock band at every stage of their 36-year history, helping the band sell over four million albums in the process.
A benefit gig for Kennemore was held on (December 31) at the Avalon venue in Santa Clara, California, where bands including Queensrÿche, Heaven & Hell and Testament played to raise money.
Dave Meniketti, singer in Y&T, paid tribute to his bandmate on his official website, Meniketti.com. He described Kennemore as, "a sweet and passionate man… with an amazingly strong life force that has influenced everyone who ever had the opportunity to be called a friend of his".
