YolanDa Brown working with kids from all London boroughs

Saxophone sensation and Double MOBO Award winner YolanDa Brown is hosting a music workshop with the Royal Albert Hall to inspire children from across the capital. The workshop, which is part of the Royal Albert Hall's expanding education programme, will focus on musical improvisation, giving children an opportunity to learn from a professional performer and to perform at the world famous venue.

Set on October 9th, a month prior to her own performance in the Hall's Elgar Room on November 17th, the workshop will involve 100 young sax players representing all 32 boroughs in London. YolanDa will be sharing personal music tips and will lead exercises on improvisation, with the session resulting in a group performance.

Ahead of the workshop, YolanDa commented: "It is extremely rewarding to meet and work with young people, it's where I get my inspiration from and I'm lucky to have my working day include it. With 2012 being an amazing year for sports, culture and music in London, I am proud to be a part of this legacy and see this event as being a catalyst to even more."

The workshop is just one part of the Royal Albert Hall's expanding education programme. Also featuring on the rosta is world-famous classical guitarist Miloš Karadaglić, who ahead of his show will host an intimate Q&A with year 7 and 8 students from Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and Hammersmith. Emeli Sandé will also be hosting a workshop with children from the Borough of Hackney, looking specifically at song-writing.

The Royal Albert Hall is constantly looking to develop its education offer as part of its extensive public benefit remit. Not just providing a venue for some of the world's most popular artists, it offers an education programme which aims to support cultural life of the country and future generations.
