Voodoo Hussy Biography
Voodoo Hussy’s sound can be described as punk-rock cabaret, combining pop melody with a hard rock punch, constantly delivered with high energy. Lead vocalist Shabby Joe’s sarcastic wit and intriguing charisma ensure all eyes on her. Backed by four talented and androgynously appealing ladies, she holds court firing sexual innuendo and political satire, belting out every song as though she were born performing. Liz (lead guitar), Pyro (rhythm guitar), Naj (bass) and Leanna (drums) provide doses of metal glory and punk power all with enough pop sensibility to appeal to the masses. Having had song play on Total Rock Radio as well as an interview, making the final of the Emergenza Battle Of The Bands comp, headlining the Women’s stage at London Pride and Vibration Festival, interviews and photo shoots for DIVA Magazine and I love London Girls Calendar, being booted out of the Jack Daniels unsigned band comp for being ‘too rock n roll’, and managing to be on the receiving end of Lilly Allen’s gob prove that this band is set for success. Voodoo Hussy have played some of London’s finest venues including The Clapham Grand, Mean Fiddler, Borderline, Islington Academy, Hope & Anchor and Purple Turtle to name a mere few, as well as shows outside London, always to incredible response.
