Ziana Zain

DESPITE the endless birth of new talents in music and the world of make believe, their existence does not in any way pose a threat to the popularity of Siti Roziana Zain (Ziana Zain). This Malacca lass has made her presence an irresistible impact in entertainment. Little known as a leading singer in a police combo album titled 'Kau lbarat Lilin' (You're Like a Candle), she later joined BMG Music in 1991 and shot to stardom with her debut album 'Madah Berhelah'(Disguised Words). To top it all, she was selected for the leading roles in Yusof Haslam's box-office films Sembilu, Sembilu II, Maria Mariana and Maria Mariana II. Her natural talent in acting has contributed to the acclaimed success of those films. Her accomplished performance is also seen in Merah, a film directed by singer/composer M. Nasir. Interestingly, her success on the big screen does not in any way retard her original career in the entertainment world as a singer. Her latest album titled 'Puncak Kasih' (Love Peak) has recorded a sales of 100,000 units in just a few weeks after its release. With the successes and popularity, Ziana has impressed the international watchmaker Omega to be picked as the model for the brand name in Malaysia. For the selection, Ziana was listed amongst big names like Cindy Crawfords, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher, Alexander Popov and other famous stars. This is Ziana's highest accomplishment, following her recent successful stint in Kazakhstan. The glitters and glamours of showbiz isn't enough to make her contented with life. She works harder for more fulfillments. With regular encouragements and morale boosters from her folks, Ziana earns herself a series of achievement awards. Ziana's tough early life, having to earn a living as a factory worker, office helper and hotel employee before becoming an air hostess, was a blessing in disguise. It had taught her valueable lessons about life.
