Hathaway, 28, is currently shooting her part as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises and accidentally hit the stunt man in the eye with the butt of a gun.
A source said to UK newspaper The Sun: 'Anne got a bit carried away during a fight scene and mistakenly shoved the butt of the gun right into the actor's eye socket.
'He came away with a massive black eye - Anne was mortified.'
It's claimed she felt so bad about the incident she bought him a silver pen to say sorry and had it engraved with: 'Remember no one packs a punch like Anne.'
