Ariana Grande has responded via Instagram to a body-shaming Internet user who insulted her slim frame.
The 22-year-old singer-and-actress found herself being compared to Modern Family star Ariel Winter online after a commenter posted the following message in an unidentified forum: "Got asked if I'd prefer @arielwinter1 or @ArianaGrande lol, it wud definitely be @arielwinter1 curves are sexy sticks aren't."
Ariana shared an image of the insulting comment on her Instagram account on Monday 2 November (15) along with a response, writing: "Sigh …. tweets, comments, statement like this are not okay. About anyone!!!"
The Focus songstress emphasised the need for acceptance when it comes to viewing others as she is upset by the concept of other people being harassed for the way they look.
"We live in a day and age where people make it IMPOSSIBLE for women, men, anyone to embrace themselves exactly how they are," she continued. "Diversity is sexy! Loving yourself is sexy!
"You know what is NOT sexy? Misogyny, objectifying, labeling, comparing and body shaming!!! Talking about people's body's as if they're on display ASKING for your approval / opinion. THEY ARE NOT!!!! CELEBRATE YOURSELF. CELEBRATE OTHERS.
"The things that make us different from one another make us BEAUTIFUL. BODY BOUNDARIES. LOVE LOVE LOVE ONLY.(sic)"
Ariana has spoken out about body-shaming issues in the past and she has long been a supporter of causes like LGBT and women's rights.
On Monday the star made it clear she is tired of having to defend against bullies, a sentiment she is convinced many other people share. Despite her rant, Ariana made a point of ending her posts on a positive note.
"here we go again.... I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way today!!" she wrote. "(sic) in case you need a reminder, you're beautiful it's a beautiful day to be yourself !"
