Overview
The dancer - who was rumoured to have been dating Cheryl after meeting on the set of one of her music videos - was surprised with a birthday basket of treats by the X Factor judge when he turned 26 on Wednesday.
According to The Sun, Cheryl called Derek in Toronto, Canada, where he is filming movie Cobu 3D, and sang Happy Birthday down the phone to him.
He then found the basket of gifts - including the snowboard, CDs, DVDs and a framed picture of the pair on holiday in South Africa - waiting for him in his dressing room with a note, saying, 'Happy Birthday, love from your Dimples x.'
A source told the newspaper, 'Derek thought because of her schedule she wouldn't have time to send a card, let alone a basket of presents.
'All the stuff was really personal. He was so touched.'
