The 27-year-old Promise This singer, who left the talent competition last week after Fox network bosses feared her accent was too strong for US audiences, is said to be focusing on getting the five girls back together for a new album and tour in 2012.
A source told music industry website M Is For Music: 'Everyone knew a Girls Aloud reunion would all depend on Cheryl's work commitments.
'Since cutting all ties with both the US and UK X Factor, Cheryl has been thinking long and hard about her career and has decided to put all her energy into the 2012 reunion. She is focused on getting the girls back together as she knows it would be hard to release another successful solo career without the backing of Simon and the X Factor.'
The insider added: 'Cheryl is devastated about how things have turned out but she thinks a Girls Aloud reunion will help her win back the support of the British public.'
