The 27-year-old Girls Aloud star is currently waiting to hear whether she has nabbed one of the two remaining places on the judging panel, alongside Simon Cowell and music producer Antonio “LA” Reid.
Cowell, 51, revealed last week that she was still in the frame for one of the sought-after roles.
But now the show's producer Rob Wade has said: 'We think we should know by the end of April. At the moment, what we do know is that we have Simon Cowell doing it – he's promised! – and LA Reid.
'He's a brilliant guy and he knows what he is talking about, which is so important in this process. The other two spots are still up for grabs. We're just getting the balance.'
He also confirmed that there are plans to have two presenters fronting the talent competition.
The first ever X Factor USA audition, held in Los Angeles at the weekend, broke records for the highest turn-out for a singing audition, with more than 18,000 people in the queue by 9am.
