Cheryl Cole has been sacked from the judging panel on the US version of the X Factor, according to reports last night (May 25).
The singer, who was only confirmed to be part of the show’s judging panel earlier this month, has completed a week of auditions, but according to TMZ, producers feel that contestants are finding it too hard to understand Cole’s Newcastle accent.
The 27 year-old had previously said she did not believe her accent would be a problem for US viewers, but the show’s producers have clearly taken a different view.
Cole has been replaced on the panel by former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who had been originally booked as the show’s co-host.
Reports this morning (May 26) suggest that Cole will be offered the chance to return to the judging panel on the UK version of the show, but that she is said to be "very upset" about the decision and may "sever ties" with the show altogether.
