Cheryl Cole could be set to return to the X Factor as a judge for the live shows, it has been reported.
The Girls Aloud star, who was sacked from the US version of the show back in May reportedly amid concerns from US TV bosses over her Newcastle accent, is 'in talks' with the shows UK bosses to join the judges for the series live shows.
A source told Heat magazine: "The panel have been finding their feet slowly. But it's no secret that Cheryl was Simon's golden girl. If she came back, it would be a huge fanfare. Of course, if they announce Cheryl was coming back, there would be immediate worries that she would be replacing someone."
Adding: "It's an extremely closely guarded secret. Some people know about this yet, but Cheryl is in talks to come back as a guest judge on the live shows. And while nothing is signed or set in stone, everyone involved knows it's going to be the most explosive thing The X Factor's ever seen."
The new series of the X Factor inlcudes Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos as well as long-standing judge Louis Walsh.
Meanwhile, Jessie J has confirmed that she will appear as a mentor on The X Factor.
