Cheryl Cole was about to start a family with Ashley Cole before his infidelities were revealed.
The 'Fight for This Love' singer - who dumped the soccer player after allegations he cheated on her with several other women surfaced - is devastated about their split because she was getting the "maternal instinct", according to her brother Andrew Tweedy.
Andrew told Britain's Star magazine: "They were thinking about it and trying to organise how to sort things out with their careers to get around it. We come from a big family and she's got the maternal instinct. She was just getting ready to work out how they were going to fit it in."
Andrew - the eldest of Cheryl's four siblings - is worried about his pop star sister being on her own, but is delighted she isn't taking her husband back.
The 29 year old said: "I'm always worried about things like this. What's happened has hit her really hard, because of her being so sensitive.
"He has done it too many times now. What's that old saying? 'You can fool me once, but you'll not fool me twice.' She has already forgiven him and given him chances but I don't think he's got anymore get out of jail free cards left."
Andrew believes England player Ashley's extravagant lifestyle gave him opportunities to cheat and, unfortunately for Cheryl, he succumbed to them.
He said: "It was such a shock because everything appeared to be good. too much opportunity. But he's cheated on a gorgeous woman with absolute dogs.
"I was fuming. I am absolutely devastated for Cheryl. I was shocked. Why would he want to do that and spoil what they had?"
